Associate Professor Chryssis Georgiou has been elected to serve for a three-year term as the Steering Committee Chair of the ACM Principles of Distributed Computing (PODC) conference. PODC is one of the premier conferences on algorithms for distributed computation, including the theory, design, analysis, implementation, and application of such algorithms to domains stretching from traditional long-haul networks to mobile and sensor networks. PODC is ranked as an A* conference by the CORE (Computing Research and Education) portal, and in collaboration with DISC (the International Symposium on Distributed Computing), awards annually the highly recognized Edsger W. Dijkstra Prize in Distributed Computing.
